Reiview of the "Clip Cast"
:(Independent Learning)

This application is very easy to learn just following the help menu and it is organized in simple form compared to other video editing software for less categories. It is the most easy video editing soft i have eaver seen, but for students those who has no experience using video in PC might be a little confusing to learn the format of the application. This site is safe to use without parents and it is interesting enough to remix the home video or presentation video that parents and teachers approve it with pleasure, but the person who uploads the video has to have the moral to upload and share the video on Clip Cast which includes no violence, personal information, copy right, and other features that violent common sense. As the picture has 1000 times information than the text, using the video which had edited by the application for presentation is one of the replace of the Power Point, it is the new age tool. Edited video gives more clear information to the audience and the greater degree of understanding as well.

Lesson 6

NEW DOCUMENT

THINK:

Instead of using copy and paste to sharing the documents, I usually use social networking site such as mixi. Once I copy my document which to share on the page, everyone can see the content if they has account of mixi. But it will not allow us to work on it at same time. At least we can copy and paste it using comment blog to handle and share the document at the same time.

Explain:

1. The skills needed for managing Google Docs is that it requires the high level of distinction of the page that which is created in GDC for sharing the work. If it is not well organized when working, user will be lost.

2. It makes user possible to work on the same document at one time also as editting, but the problem is that every each member have to creat new account and they have to learn how to use the GDC.

3. To work professionally in the GDC, the best way to have advantage using GDC is working as group in a document. User can have same working environment even they are in remote area. And the editting of a document is easy on GDC that every one can just save new documents in GDC.

4. I can apply this GDC in my group work for other classes in ICU now on. I will explain how to use it to members to creat the on- time and shared working enviroment for users. This software is exactly what I wanted use in the group work.

Summary of the reading "Community in the Digital Age"

Readings: Kahn & Kellner, pp. 183-185, pp. 190-198Write a brief summary of the main ideas and issues raised in the text. (150-180 words) What is your reaction? Respond to one particular idea that really resonates with you. (30 words)

The content of “Community in the Digital Age”, chapter 10, is about how new media developments make possible a reconfiguring of politics and culture and a refocusing of participatory democratic politics for everyday life. It illustrates the relation of online communities such as blog, Wikipedia and Internet activism. Since 9/11th , both left and right activist including terrorist has started to control their information on-line. The way of participating democratic politic has been developed by such activists on line, controlling the open source. It has developed by hackers, terrorists, activist organizations and the public. Those information shared by activists were mostly gathered in online communities and it produced new social relation and forms of democratic political possibility. The development of relation in online community results in both positive and negative. At least, in part a positive development is that opens radical possibilities for greater range of opininon, new modes of virtual and actual political communities, and novel forms of direct political action.

Reflection:
I strongly agree with the Feenberg’s idea of the online community liberated the participation of greater range of concept from mass numbers of people around the world in one ground. Many people are now linked in one ground to participate in politics by development of online community.

Lesson 5

Think:
1. Which sites do you visit regularly? What provisions do you currently make to keep yourself up to date on new content posted to your favourite sites? (SCICU e-Portfolio)

I do not have my specific favorite site to visit, thus I usually use portal site only Yahoo! Japan.
I do not know any provision to keep myself up to date and I always visit Yahoo every single time to keep my self up to date.

Explore:
Which of your favourite sites provide an RSS feed? Which ones don't? Can you think why not?
(SCICU e-Portfolio)

1.Yahoo has many variety of RSS feeds, such as inform ation about DVD and Cars.
On MSN Japan, I couldn't find any RSS feeds.
International Herald Tribune had each categorized news for RSS feeds.
You Tube didn't have any RSS.

The differnce of two portal site, Yahoo and MSN is unclear and It's very simillar site but I found that the contents of Yahoo is more various than MSN. It might be unnecessary for MSN's content to attract its reader by RSS. I think its depends on the content of the site if there is the RSS feeds or not such as YOU TUBE to IHT. For instance, IHT is a news paper site and YOU tube has log in.

EXPLAIN:
Write a post reflecting on RSS with reference to the four Key Questions.
(SCICU e-Portfolio)

Social Computing Key Questions:

1. What are the main skills needed to use social software?
RSS only requires simple skill to find the tab for subscribing, but Google Reader requires to learn new format of the software.

2. What are the affordances
(what the software makes possible, what it impedes)?
RSS helps users to be up to date regulary not visiting the site or page. Although, It sends a lot of useless information too. The content of the RSS should be chosen carefully.

3. How can the technology be used to network professionally and connect users to learning resources?

Choosing specific information carefully which is important for user to have updated regulary is very important to manage the RSS professionally.

4. What learned skills and understandings may promote your development as an effective learner in the digital age?
RSS is very usefull to if it is managed propery to get new information regulary up dated.
It is imprtant to know that too overwhelming addings to RSS makes the tool useless!

Barabasi: TheThird Link

1. What is the principle of six degrees of separation? What number of social links does
any one person need to be connected to global society? p. 30

The principle of six degrees of separation is that, despite the enormous size of society, it can
be easily navigated by following social links from each other , being connected to global
society requires barely more than one social link per person.

2. How is the fabric of society today different from pre-internet society? p. 31

The link such as URL has been created on World Wide Web allowing to move with the
click of a mouse from one page to another.

3. How many more links separate any pair of web pages compared to people in society? What
can explain the difference? p. 34

Compared to people in society, about eleven more links separates any pair of web pages,
which is average of 19 links. The nodes of network for society is about six billion while the
web nodes is close to 800 million.

4. So far, what ranges of separation have network scientists discovered in different kinds of
networks? p. 34

Between two to fourteen range of separation has been discovered in different kinds of
network by scientists so far.

5. What does research suggest about the fundamentals of networks? p.34-35

The research suggests about the fundamentals of networks is that the network require only
one link per nodes to form a giant cluster and the origin of the small separation is a
logarithmic term present in the formula. The logarithm shrinks the huge networks.

6. What is your estimate of your personal number of connections to society? What
connections are your strongest?

My personal number of connection is infinite, but I estimate that I have at leaset
10000 of connections to the society. This is the estimated number of people I have met in my
life since I was born, the number of people who met in school, job, friends, and
acquaintances. My strongest connection to society is local friend in Koganei-Shi where I grew
up.
